SMART LINE
Smart Line - Stable Name ‘Boris’

The Sire is Roviris and Grand Sire Sir Ivor who won the Derby being ridden by Lester Piggott.
On the Dam side he has ‘Bo-Line V11’ whose sire was the son on Ben-Fearie who in turn was the sire of Priceless and Night Cap who was ridden by Ginny Elliot.
A little convoluted I’m sure you’ll agree but interesting all the same.
Boris is a good natured young horse with very exciting breeding for eventing.
His conformation shows promising signs of an athlete for the three disciplines.
I like his sloping shoulders and his hind quarters have very good angles, which should provide him with plenty of strength.
His paces are light and free and his quarters seem naturally underneath him.
Aim: To back and produce him and develop him to his strengths.
News about Boris
Boris continued his all-round education but we decided to take him to affiliated Dressage competitions. He was placed in every outing, winning his class and gaining 2nd, 3rd and fourth place!

April 2011
Boris went for an outing to gain some experience in the eventing scene. We started off just with the dressage phase at Aston- le – Walls UA.
He loved it and thought it was jolly good fun. His score was a very pleasing 32.5! A good start and another positive experience for us!
February 2011

And on Saturday 19 February, he had his first ever go at a Dressage competition. Still a little “wobbly” at times, he was very well behaved throughout the test and gained a respectable 63.8% and 65.9% , not bad for a first ever outing! I look forward to bringing him on further and developing him in all phases over the next few weeks.
October 2010
Boris has been exposed to lots of new things: Out hacking he has been on the roads facing traffic and he has been cantering around fields. He also went along to some dressage training at Milton Stud, where he was faced with his own image (mirrors)! After a glance and a sniff, he carried on as normal: obviously happy with what he saw!
May 2010
Boris showed some discomfort in the mouth and after a good check by Antony Tory (dentist) we realised, that two blind wolf teeth, that had not been detected by a previous vet check were causing him discomfort! After a little surgery, he is now much happier and showing some very promising work!
March 2010
Boris has moved on from being lunged to riding loose around the school. Although a little wobbly at times (only normal for a youngster) he shows very promising work! He is active, light and gives me feel that there is still plenty of energy to come when he strengthens and develops!
2009
Boris has been given some time to settle in at his new home.
After getting used to his new surroundings and routines, we introduced him to our hose pipe and wash area and had the dentist round. We also “kitted” him out with bridle, roller and boots and led him round the school.
The first couples of circuits on the lunge line, Boris needed some extra help understanding the gist of this game…(Hannah and I took it in turns to run behind him to encourage him to keep going forward ) but thankfully not long and he understood what we were after ;-)
He is now lunging happily with bridle, saddle and a harbridge. We are also getting him used to be mounted by leaning over him.
So far so good!
